New Version Android System Copy Java Code without Unauthorized
According to the report, the Intellectual property expert Florian Mueller have pointed out that there are 43 files copied the Java code on new version Google Android operating system without unauthorized. The Oracle has ever prosecuted Google due to it used Java code on Google Android, while Google denied this issue.
Mueller said in blog that the new findings may be fruitful for Oracle, while it is extremely frightening for Google. After the careful examination on Android code, he found the 6 more files are almost the same Java files besides the infringing files that Oracle pointed out in the proceedings. At the same time, those files exist in Froyo Android 2.2 and Gingerbread Android 2.3 operating systems. In addition, Mueller also found 37 files that marked Sun code copyright in the Android’s code.
Although Google uses different code from the original, Mueller still found the difference between two is the reverse compiler’s using. When Mueller reverses compiling the different Java files by the so-called JAD Java reverse compiler, he found the result is the same to the files in Android. However, Google has no comment on the issue.
The Oracle have criticized Google Android system infringed their Java copyright in the submitted files in August, last year. The Oracle acquired Java copyright after purchased Sun. But Google denied this issue because they though it is groundless. If Google is found infringed copyright, it will need to pay licensing fees to each of Android operating system device for Oracle. Google may impute to license fees to equipment manufacturer, so that it will reduce the attraction of free Android operating system. The number of Android users increased significantly over the past few years, but also it faces the litigations by many companies.
